Before the district championship games begin Thursday at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, District 2 has one more third-place game left to determine a qualifier for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 4A boys state tournament.
Nanticoke is at Scranton Prep.
NEPABasketball.com editor Tom Robinson, who covers and writes about District 2 basketball for the website, is once again predicting the outcomes of games throughout the district and subregional playoffs.
His prediction for the Wednesday game is below.

DISTRICT 2 4A BOYS THIRD-PLACE GAME
SCRANTON PREP by 10 over Nanticoke
WHAT TO EXPECT
Nanticoke made great strides through the season, showing that its willingness to play a tough non-league schedule prepared the Trojans well to put together an improved record in the second half of the season. Scranton Prep, however, has played that level of competition all season as a member of Lackawanna League Division 1 while Nanticoke spent the latter part of the season playing Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 opponents. The games against larger schools did not help Scranton Prep Saturday, but if the Cavaliers can shake off any mental impact of having their seven-year title run ended by Mid Valley, that preparation should be enough to put them back in their usual March spot – playing in the state tournament.
