Wyoming Valley Conference championships

The Wyoming Valley Conference Tournaments makes it return Thursday through Saturday after not being conducted in 2021 because of the impact COVID had on teams completing their schedules prior to the District 2 playoffs.

Four teams each in boys and girls – the top two in each division – will make up the field.

Boys will play semifinals Thursday at Hazleton Area; girls will play Friday at Pittston Area; and the championship doubleheader will be Saturday night at Wilkes-Barre Area.

First, however, the Division 1 boys title will be decided in a Tuesday playoff.

The schedule is:

DIVISION 1 BOYS

Tuesday’s championship game

Hazleton Area (18-3) vs. Dallas (17-3) at Pittston Area, 7:30 p.m.

DIVISION 1 GIRLS

Wednesday's playoff

Tiebreaker, if Wilkes-Barre Area and Pittston Area finish in first-place tie

At Hazleton Area, 6, 7:30

Holy Redeemer (19-3) vs. Division 1 runner-up (Hazleton Area or Dallas)

Nanticoke (13-9) vs. Division 1 champion (Hazleton Area or Dallas)

Friday’s semifinals

At Pittston Area, 6, 7:30

Lake-Lehman (16-3) vs. Division 2 runnerup Pittston Area (19-2) or Wilkes-Barre Area (17-2)

Holy Redeemer (13-8) vs. Division 1 champion Wilkes-Barre Area (17-2) or Pittston Area (19-2)
