The last two District 2 teams take the court Saturday, trying to land state championship game berths in Hershey.
The Old Forge boys, in Class 2A, and Holy Redeemer boys, in Class 3A, play as part of the same tripleheader in Bethlehem.
NEPABasketball.com editor Tom Robinson, who covers and writes about District 2 basketball for the website, is once again predicting the outcomes of games throughout the state tournament after also picking all the games in the District 2 tournament.
His predictions for Saturday’s games are below.
PIAA PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS
By Tom Robinson
CLASS 3A SEMIFINAL BOYS GAME
Holy Redeemer by 5 over Devon Prep
CLASS 2A SEMIFINAL BOYS GAME
Constitution by 5 over Old Forge
WHAT TO EXPECT
Old Forge and Devon Prep are each trying to make the state final after falling short of district championships. In Devon Prep’s case, it did not even make the district final, but has avenged its district semifinal loss to West Catholic to get to this round. Old Forge bounced back from a district championship game loss to Holy Cross, the team Constitution eliminated Wednesday, to win three straight. Both Old Forge and Devon Prep have to be regarded as underdogs, but both are dangerous opponents for the district champions they face. In Old Forge’s case, the Blue Devils have won the last two games despite being regarded as underdogs here.
