Keystone wins CSAC men’s opener

Tone Cockrell scored 26 points, dished out 7 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds Thursday night when Keystone College defeated visiting Clarks Summit University, 68-57, in the Colonial States Athletic Conference men’s basketball opener for both teams.

Cockrell was 8-for-16 from the floor and 10-for-12 from the line.

Pete Laidley added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the win for the Keystone, which improved to 3-5 overall.

Clarks Summit (2-8) got 13 points each from Kelvin Chest and Isaiah Coleman, who did his scoring in 16 minutes off the bench.

Both teams were led in rebounding by former District 2 players.

West Scranton graduate Jalen Gregory had a game-high 10 rebounds in 19 minutes for Keystone.

Abington Heights graduate Garrett Plantz shared the Clarks Summit rebounding lead, coming off the bench to grab five.
