Mid Valley and Holy Cross shared first place in the Lackawanna League Division 3 standings before a playoff decided the title.

And, they share top billing in the NEPABasketball.com Lackawanna Division 3 all-star team that was released Tuesday evening.

Sophomore Gabe Tanner was named Player of the Year after helping Mid Valley take the title.

Al Callejas from Holy Cross was selected as Coach of the Year. The Crusaders lost their first two division games to fall to 4-5 overall, but recovered to win 17 of their next 18, including the 10 straight Division 3 games needed to force a playoff, and the District 2 Class 2A championship that followed.

Combining the Player of the Year and first team, the Spartans and Crusaders each had two players listed among the division’s top six. Each also had another player among the second-team selections.

Tanner earns the Player of the Year honors after being a second-team pick last season as a freshman.

Mid Valley junior Danny Nemitz is already a three-time, first-team selection.

Hayden Hosie from Holy Cross moves up from second team to first team this season.

Nemitz and Hosie are part of an all-junior first team.

Of the 11 total players recognized, 7 are juniors and 9 are underclassmen.
