Trinity Johnson did not make any 3-point shots during her senior season at Wyoming Valley West.

Monday night, Johnson showed that was not because she couldn’t hit from beyond the arc.

Johnson joined Nadia Evanosky from Dallas, Eliud Lopez from Wilkes-Barre Area and Cole Morio from Lake-Lehman in advancing to the girls and boys finals of the 3-Point Shootout that will be held in conjunction with the Dr. George P. Moses Wyoming Valley Conference Senior All-Star Classic Friday night at Wilkes-Barre Area.

The first round of the 3-Point Shootout was conducted during Monday night’s practice for Friday’s games.

Johnson, a 6-foot-2 center, spent most of her high school career closer to the basket.

The all-star games are scheduled for 6:30 Friday with the girls game to be followed by the boys.

The two coaches from the WVC’s division championship teams and state contenders will team up to coach one boys team.

Mark Belenski from Dallas, which won the Division 1 title and reached the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state Class 4A semifinals, and Paul Guido from Holy Redeemer, which won the Division 2 title and lost in overtime in the Class 3A semifinals, will coach one team.

Retiring Wilkes-Barre Area coach Pat Toole will coach the other team with help from Pittston Area assistant John Walsh.

The Belenski-Guido team will have five players from the championship teams, including NEPABasketball.com divisional Players of the Year Austin Finarelli from Dallas and Justice Shoats from Holy Redeemer.
