Blue Ridge recovered from a rough start to run away from visiting Mountain View by halftime of a 77-47 rout in their District 2 Class 2A boys quarterfinal game Wednesday night.
Connor Cranage, Dylan Bradley and J.J. Rosa all scored at least 15 points as part of double-doubles for the Raiders, who beat the Eagles for the third time this season.
Mountain View jumped out to a 14-1 lead midway through the first quarter with Tanner Stout, Jackson Gesford and Ryan Henke all hitting 3-pointers, but the lead did not last long.
“We just had to lock up our D,” first-year Blue Ridge coach Wes Parks said. “They hit a bunch of threes.”
Blue Ridge piled up 55 points in just 12 minutes.
The Raiders outscored the Eagles, 24-5, for the rest of the first quarter, then 31-7 in the second quarter for a 56-26 halftime lead.
Cranage had 10 points while Rosa and Bradley had eight each in the second quarter.
“We started to execute better,” said Parks, who called timeout at 14-1. “The ball started to go through the net and we just started to play great basketball from there on out.”
Cranage finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Bradley had 15 points and 15 rebounds. Rosa had 15 points and 10 assists.
James Barbour added 10 points.
Henke finished with 12 points for Blue Ridge.
The Raiders earned another shot at top-seeded Holy Cross, which Blue Ridge led by eight at halftime in December before losing, 61-52. That game was at Blue Ridge, but the Saturday district semifinal rematch will be in front of a sellout crowd at Holy Cross.
Holy Cross had a quarterfinal bye.
