Only one District 2 boys team made it through league play with a perfect record in the 2021-22 season.
Holy Redeemer’s 12-0 run through Division 2 of the Wyoming Valley Conference resulted in the Royals dominating the division all-star team, as selected by NEPABasketball.com and released Thursday night.
Justice Shoats was named Player of the Year for the second time in three seasons. In between, he was a first-team, all-star a year ago.
Paul Guido landed Coach of the Year recognition.
The Holy Redeemer honors did not end there.
Matt Prociak repeated as a first-team selection. He had also been an honorable mention pick in 2020 when that category was part of the Division 2 all-star team because the division had eight member teams.
Zach Perta joined Prociak on the first team, giving the Royals three of the top six players in the division.
The rest of the team is made up of new faces. The eight players from the division’s other teams who made the all-star team are all first-time selections and include three juniors and two sophomores.
