Arvel Chandler had 17 points and Jason Shields had 15, each doing all their scoring in the middle two quarters, Wednesday night as Scranton overpowered visiting Honesdale, 76-43, to take over the Lackawanna League Division 1 boys lead.
Scranton moved a half-game in front of idle Abington Heights and Scranton Prep in the division standings.
The Knights celebrated Senior Night, altering the lineup to get some lesser-used seniors extensive playing time.
Scranton trailed, 17-14, after one quarter, but Chandler, Shields and Josh Williams, who added 10 points, dominated the second and third quarters to create a 60-36 lead.
Fuquan Hart had 10 points in the first quarter and finished with 14 for the Knights, who improved to 8-2 in the division and 15-2 overall.
Nate Greene led Honesdale with nine points.
Elk Lake 55, Montrose 39
Matt Mowry got started early with three of his five 3-pointers and 11 of his 24 points in the first quarter to lead the Lackawanna Division 4 leaders to the win over host Montrose.
Mowry helped the Warriors to a 17-9 lead after one quarter. He had 16 points by halftime, but the Meteors managed to remain within 29-21.
Sammy Stashko scored 17 points and Justin Holgash 16 for Montrose.
MMI Prep 45, Wyoming Seminary 27
MMI Prep won for the first time since Jan. 23, 2020, breaking a 25-game losing streak with a strong finish in its Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 home game.
The Preppers did not play last season because of COVID and were 0-18 coming into the game. They had lost their last seven of the 2019-20 season after a 52-49 victory over Lake-Lehman.
Ryan Sones led the way with 13 points in the win.
Chance Eyerly added 10.
MMI led 17-10 at halftime, then put the game away with a 15-5 fourth quarter.
Marc Jackett led Wyoming Seminary with 12 points.
Old Forge 62, Mountain View 47
Sean Hill and Ayden Davitt helped Old Forge take control in the second and third quarters of its home, non-league victory.
Hill had 9 of his 19 points in the second quarter when the Blue Devils turned a 13-12 deficit into a 32-25 halftime lead on the way to their sixth straight victory.
Davitt had seven while Old Forge outscored Mountain View, 18-4, in the third quarter for a 50-29 lead. He finished with 17 points.
Ryan Henke led Mountain View with 21 points and Ryan Drake added 13.
