Matt Show scored 10 of his 14 points in the third quarter to help host Abington Heights break away from a halftime tie on the way to handing Wallenpaupack its first Lackawanna League boys defeat, 48-40, Thursday night in a Lackawanna League Division 1-2 crossover.
The Comets outscored the Buckhorns, 14-6, in the third to take a 35-27 lead.
Ryan Nealon hit a 3-pointer and went 2-for-4 from the line in the fourth quarter to help the Comets hold on. He finished with nine points.
Abington Heights improved to 4-2 in the Lackawanna and 9-5 overall.
The Comets also held the Buckhorns to six points in the first quarter while handing them their first loss of the New Year. Wallenpaupack had won seven straight.
Wallenpaupack remains a game in front of North Pocono for the Division 2 lead. The Buckhorns fell to 6-1 and 12-3.
Jack Smith scored 7 of his 15 points and Wyatt Peifer had 6 of his 10 in the fourth quarter when each hit a 3-pointer for Wallenpaupack.

Jason Shields made six 3-pointers while piling up 36 points as host Scranton protected District 2’s only perfect overall record with a Lackawanna League Division 1 romp.
Shields had 19 points while helping Scranton to a 43-21 lead at halftime.
A.J. Dinterman added 14 points in the win.
L.V. Pegula led Valley View with nine points.
Hazleton Area 67, Tunkhannock 51
Hazleton Area trailed until the closing seconds of the first quarter, then outscored host Tunkhannock in every quarter to gradually pull away and remain unbeaten in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1.
Josian Guerra led the Cougars with 17 points.
Eliud Lopez scored 14 points and blocked 3 shots. Joe Marshall had 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Holy Redeemer 81, Lake-Lehman 51
Justice Shoats scored his 25 points in the first 3 quarters and Matt Prociak finished with 23 points as Holy Redeemer rolled over visiting Lake-Lehman to remain unbeaten in WVC Division 2.
Shoats had 11 points in a 28-15 second quarter that created a 48-28 halftime lead.
The Royals led 68-39 after three quarters.
Zack Perta added 12 points in the win.
Corey Bean hit six 3-pointers, including three in the first quarter, to lead Lake-Lehman with 18.
Cole Morio added 17 points and Joe Shiskowsky had 12 for the Black Knights.
Blue Ridge 75, Montrose 42
Connor Cranage scored 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as Blue Ridge protected its half-game lead in Lackawanna Division 4 by handling visiting Montrose.
J.J. Rosa had 15 points and 8 assists while Coleman McCain scored 14 points.
Sammy Stashko scored 12 points and Connor Watkins 11 for Montrose.
Scranton Prep 56, West Scranton 25
Scranton Prep overwhelmed visiting West Scranton with a 27-4 first quarter on the way to its third straight victory while holding on to second place in Lackawanna Division 1.
Matt Cobb had 7 of his game-high 13 points in the first quarter while Noah Sorenson had 8 of his 13.
Each hit early 3-pointers while James Pettinato and Nico Paoli also had first-quarter 3-pointers.
Robert Rossi had five points in the second quarter, giving him nine in the first half, which ended with the Cavaliers up 41-8. Rossi finished with 10 points.
Sincere Jean-Louis and Tristan Lee led West Scranton with six points each.
North Pocono 61, Honesdale 41
Billy Pabst scored 22 points as North Pocono moved to within a game of the Lackawanna Division 2 lead with the home-court win.
Chris Walsh and Kyle McCullough added 10 points each.
Nathan Hugaboom scored 17 points and Chase Cummings 13 for Honesdale.
Dunmore 66, Carbondale 50
Kevin Walsh scored 24 points and Adriel DeNaples added 21 as Dunmore used the home-court win to hold on to its share of second place and move to within a game of the Lackawanna Division 2 lead.
Riverside 45, Lakeland 29
Riverside took a 23-6 halftime lead on the way to the Lackawanna Division 3 win at Lakeland.
Elk Lake 60, Forest City 41
Matt Mowry scored 15 points to lead four Elk Lake scorers in double figures during the road win that broke a second-place tie in Lackawanna Division 4.
Isaac Gesford, who made three 3-pointers, and Trevor Graham scored 11 points apiece. Caden Ramey added 10.
D.J. Heath led Forest City with 10 points.
Susquehanna 46, Lackawanna Trail 32
Susquehanna trailed at the end of each of the first three quarters on the road before rallying past winless Lackawanna Trail in the Lackawanna Division 4 game.
Spencer Beamer scored 18 points and Collin Smith grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Sabers.
Colton Stone went 5-for-5 from the line while scoring 9 of his 11 points in the fourth quarter when Beamer added 7.
J.T. Burke hit a 3-pointer in each of the last three quarters while adding 10 points.
Brycen Decker hit four, first-half 3-pointers while leading Lackawanna Trail with 18 points. Owen Lisk added 12.
Wilkes-Barre Area 44, Berwick 40
Samir Hill scored seven of Wilkes-Barre Area’s nine overtime points and finished with a team-high 15 points as the Wolfpack fought off an upset bid by visiting Berwick for the WVC Division 1 win.
Jacob Horga adds 10 points.
Sean Murphy scored 15 of his 21 points for Berwick after halftime, including scoring all five of the Bulldogs’ points in the extra session.
Pittston Area 42, Crestwood 37
Pittston Area rallied from an eight-point deficit after one quarter to post the WVC Division 1 victory over visiting Crestwood.
The Comets scored the game’s first nine points.
J.J. Walsh got the comeback started on his way to a game-high 19 points.
Walsh had seven points in the second quarter when the Patriots turned a 16-8 deficit into a 20-19 lead.
Ethan Ghannam scored 8 of his 12 points in the second half, matching Walsh’s total over the final two quarters.
The Patriots shot 8-for-10 from the line in the fourth quarter with Anthony Cencetti making all four while scoring six of his eight points.
Sam Balliet led Crestwood with nine points.
Dallas 59, Wyoming Valley West 52
Dallas limited Wyoming Valley West to seven points in each of the last two quarters to recover from a double-figures deficit on the road and post the WVC Division 2 victory.
Austin Finarelli, who had 10 points in the second half, and Nick Nocito scored 16 points each for the Mountaineers in their fifth straight victory.
Michael Bufalino added 10 points.
Wyoming Valley West led 23-10 after one quarter and 38-28 at halftime.
Brian Gill had 12 points and Jonathan Mann had 9 in the first half for the Spartans.
Mann finished with 18 and Gill 14.
Wyoming Area 49, Wyoming Seminary 36
Dane Schutter scored 28 points and led the comeback that allowed Wyoming Area to top visiting Wyoming Seminary in the WVC Division 2 game.
Wyoming Seminary led 13-4 after one quarter.
Schutter had 20 points in the middle quarters when the Warriors took a 34-27 lead.
Evan Melberger added 10 points in the win.
Wyoming Seminary was led by Marc Jackett with 12 points.
Nanticoke 69, MMI Prep 36
Jaidyn Johnson scored 24 points and Payton Kepp added 15 to lead Nanticoke to the WVC Division 2 win at home.
Old Forge 62, Mountain View 52
Ayden Davitt poured in 28 points as Old Forge won the non-league road game.
