Lackawanna Trail returns its top three scorers as it looks to make strides in the first year under new head coach Joel Nietz.
The Lady Lions, who went 4-8 in Division 4 and 5-17 overall last season, already won in their debut under Nietz in the only game played prior to January 25, the second week of Lackawanna League play.
Guards Amaralis Thiel, Megan Gatto and Kassidy Kostick are the top three scorers returning.
Thiel and Gatto are juniors. Kostick is a senior.
Nadia Toth, a 5-foot-10 sophomore forward, and Abby Wilson, a senior guard, also made some starts last season.
Junior Emma Oswald is also working at forward.
Nietz is working with seven freshmen. Forward/guard Mackenzie Schirg and guard Gretchen Rejrat appear to have the best chance of making an early impact from that group.
“We are focused on daily improvement,” Nietz said. “The girls have been working to improve in all areas.”
