Holy Redeemer posted a routine, but significant, victory Friday night.

The defending champion Lady Royals moved into the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 lead for the first time in more than a month by holding visiting Hanover Area without a field goal in a 41-2 rout.

The win was the 100th in the career of fifth-year head coach John Jezorwski.

Hanover Area’s only two points came on free throws by Brenna Slusser in the fourth quarter.

Jillian DelBalso had eight points to lead a dozen Holy Redeemer scorers. Seven players scored one basket each in the second quarter when Holy Redeemer scored 15 points for a 26-0 halftime lead.

The Lady Royals won their fifth straight, all in the last 10 days after sitting out for 17 days. They are 6-2 in the division for a half-game lead over Lake-Lehman and 9-3 overall.

Elsewhere Friday:

Old Forge 53, Mid Valley 37

Olivia Ciullo scored 36 points to lead Old Forge past visiting Mid Valley in a Lackawanna League Division 3 game.

Old Forge bounced back from losing consecutive games and three of its last four.

Hazleton Area 50, Pittston Area 37

Jaya Franek scored 12 points while Julia Mrochko had 10 points and 7 rebounds to help Hazleton Area maintain its WVC Division 1 lead with the win at Pittston Area.

Brooke Boretski and Olivia Wolk added nine points each.

Pittston Area led 16-15 after one quarter before Hazleton Area gradually took control.

Mrochko had seven of Hazleton Area’s nine points in the second quarter on the way to a 24-18 halftime lead.

Kallie Booth led the Lady Patriots with 11 points.

Dallas 60, Wilkes-Barre Area 43

Bella Hill scored 20 points to lead Dallas to the WVC Division 1 win at Wilkes-Barre Area.

Julia Kocher scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half when the Mountaineers were breaking open a two-point game to knock the Wolfpack out of second place. Kocher made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the fourth quarter.

Victoria Spaciano added 15 points in the win.

Idle Berwick assumed sole possession of second place, a game behind Hazleton Area.

Gloria Adjayi led Wilkes-Barre Area with 11 points.

Crestwood 40, Wyoming Valley West 33

Helena Jardine went 10-for-13 from the line while scoring 20 points as Crestwood won the other WVC Division 1 game at home.

Jardine had six points to get the Lady Comets out to a 14-2 lead after one quarter.

Brandy Varner, who led Wyoming Valley West with 10 points, scored 6 in the second quarter to force a 17-17 halftime tie.

Scranton 40, West Scranton 33

Scranton broke a five-game losing streak when it defeated West Scranton in a Lackawanna Division 1 game.

Lackawanna Trail 47, Forest City 14

Amaralis Thiel scored 16 points to help third-place Lackawanna Trail move to within a game of co-leaders Montrose and Elk Lake in Lackawanna Division 4.

Thiel had eight points in the first quarter when the Lady Lions opened up a 17-2 lead on the road.
