GIRLS ROUNDUP: Kranson leads Lady Crusaders

Kaci Kranson scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Monday night to lead the way when Holy Cross defeated host Mid Valley, 49-34, in a Lackawanna League Division 3 girls game.

Abbey Lentowski added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

Kranson had 17 points in the first half, but Mid Valley managed to stay within 22-15.

Emily Ferguson had four steals and Julie Goetz four assists.

Kaylee Terranella and Katie Glinsky had seven points each to lead Mid Valley.

Elsewhere Monday:

Valley View 54, Scranton 40

Skylar Bianchi scored 20 points as Valley View won at home in Lackawanna Division 1.

Alivia Romano added 14 points and Molly Murphy had 11.

The Cougars closed the third quarter on a 10-4 run to break a tie and take a 35-29 lead, then pulled away from there.

Western Wayne 44, Honesdale 29

Kaeli Romanowski scored 20 points and Kathy Shepherd added 19 as first-place Western Wayne won its Lackawanna Division 2 game at home.

The win was the fifth straight, all by 14 or more points, for the Lady Wildcats.

Lackawanna Trail 43, Susquehanna 33

Lackawanna Trail outscored host Susquehanna, 18-9, in the third quarter to take a 12-point lead into the final eight minutes.

Megan Gatto scored seven of her team-high nine points in the second half for the Lady Lions.

Mackenzie Schirg had all six of her points in the third quarter.

Susquehanna’s Meghan Kiernan scored 18 points.

Wyoming Seminary 46, Hanover Area 10

Wyoming Seminary shut out Hanover Area in the first half of the WVC Division 2 game, building a 28-point lead.

The Blue Knights spread their scoring among 10 players.

Maddie Olshemski led the way with nine points.

Grace Aiello and Ava Bufalino added eight each.

Scranton Prep 81, West Scranton 16

Cecelia Collins scored her 1,000th career point late in the first quarter with the Classics already well on their way to the romp over West Scranton in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game at Scranton High School.

Collins reached the milestone when she converted an offensive rebound into a basket and 22-2 lead with 26.2 seconds left in the first quarter.

The senior, a returning all-stater and Bucknell University commit, entered the game needing six points for 1,000. The putback put Collins at exactly 1,000 and she wound up finishing with 13 in the game.

Scranton Prep scored the last 22 points of the first quarter after the game was tied, 2-2.

Rachael Rose had nine points on two 3-pointers and a 3-point play in the quarter. She finished with 19 points and 8 rebounds.

Maria Belardi, who had seven points in the first quarter, finished with 10 points, 6 steals and 5 assists.

The Classics have won 38 straight games, including all 11 this season.

They lead Division 1 with a 10-0 Lackawanna League record.

After Scranton Prep protected the district’s best record in the afternoon, Wyoming Seminary preserved the only unbeaten boys record on the road at night.
