There are no longer any perfect records in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 girls basketball.
Gloria Adjayi scored 29 points Wednesday night when Wilkes-Barre Area handed host Hazleton Area its first division loss while taking over first place in the division with a 62-58 victory.
The Wolfpack improved to 3-1 in the division and 7-1 overall. It leads Hazleton Area (2-1 and 4-4) and defending champion Dallas by one-half game in the division race.
Shelby Ardo Boyko added 16 points to lead Wilkes-Barre Area to the win in the game between teams ranked among the top Big Schools in the My City Mortgage Super Six Power Rankings of District 2 teams. The Wolfpack is fifth and the Lady Cougars are sixth.
Adjayi, who is averaging a double-double on the season, also grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.
Boyko joined her in fighting off a Hazleton Area comeback after the Wolfpack used a 16-8, third-quarter advantage to take a 43-36 lead.
Boyko had eight points, Adjayi added six and Vanessa Luna went 3-for-4 from the line for Wilkes-Barre Area in the fourth quarter.
Julia Mrochko had 10 of her 19 points and Olivia Wolk had 7 of her 10 for Hazleton Area in the quarter. Those two and Brooke Boretski had 3-pointers for the Lady Cougars in the fourth-quarter comeback attempt.
Adjayi scored 17 points in the first half, but Hazleton Area still made it to the break with a 28-27 lead.

Scranton 47, West Scranton 34
Lanee Olson scored 14 of her 18 points in the second half to lead Scranton to the win in the opener of a girls-boys doubleheader at Scranton.
The offenses began to heat up after Scranton led just 4-2 following the first quarter of the Lackawanna League Division 1 game.
Olson had seven points and Kennedy Bittenbender five when the Lady Knights outscored the Lady Invaders, 16-4, in the third quarter. They each hit a 3-pointer early in the quarter, then Scranton scored the final nine points for a 35-20 lead.
Madison Maloney made four second-half 3-pointers to lead West Scranton with 13 points. Olivia Dougher added 11.
Abington Heights 56, North Pocono 46
Clair Marion scored 8 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter when Abington Heights broke a tie to pull out the road win in the 13th annual Pink Game, a fundraiser the two teams work on to benefit the Foundation for Cancer Care.
The Lady Comets, the third-ranked Big School in the Super Six, placed four players in double figures in the Lackawanna League Division 1-2 crossover.
Old Forge 57, Lakeland 28
Olivia Ciullo scored 27 points to lead Old Forge past visiting Lakeland in the Lackawanna Division 3 game.
Ciullo scored eight points and Makayla Parker added seven when the Lady Devils, ranked second among Small Schools in the Super Six, ran out to an 18-4 lead after one quarter.
Angelina Rios scored 15 points, 11 in the second half, for Old Forge. Parker added 11.
Skylar Arendt led Lakeland with 12 points.
Riverside 67, Carbondale 15
Kylie Lavelle scored 20 points to lead three players in double figures as Riverside, the top-ranked Small School in the Super Six, rolled to a home-court victory in Lackawanna Division 3.
The Lady Vikes led 39-6 at halftime while bouncing back from their first loss of the season to improve to 3-1 in the division and 9-1 overall.
Riverside and Old Forge passed Holy Cross and are now tied for second in the division behind Dunmore.
Kayla Rose had 13 points for Riverside while joining Emily Taylor and Morgan Antoniacci in producing three steals.
Alese Karpinski had 12 points, including 8 in the first quarter to lead a 24-2 start.
Deana Mancuso led Carbondale with seven points.
Millville 33, Northwest 28
Millville held Northwest to two second-quarter points while taking a seven-point halftime lead on the way to ending the Lady Rangers’ five-game winning streak.
Kennedy Yaple led Northwest with 12 points.
Mid Valley 41, Susquehanna 27
Kaylee Terranella made four 3-pointers while scoring 16 points to lead Mid Valley to the non-league win at Susquehanna.
Katie Glinsky was 8-for-10 from the line in the fourth quarter to finish with 10 points for the Spartanettes.
Lexi Iveson had 10 points to lead Susquehanna.
