Holy Cross senior Abbey Lentowski reached the 1,000-point mark for her career in the final minute of the fourth quarter Saturday night while helping the Lady Crusaders defeat visiting Lakeland, 67-27, in a Lackawanna League Division 3 game.
Lentowski and Kaci Kranson, who reached 1,000 earlier this season, each scored 22 points in the victory.
The milestone for Lentowski came on an-inbounds play. She established position under the basket and caught a bounce pass. Lentowski lost her balance, falling down as she completed the turn-around move to beat an attempted double-team by Lakeland.
Lentowski’s shot fell through with about 56 seconds left and Holy Cross called timeout, stopping the clock with 54.1 seconds left to celebrate the achievement.
The basket gave Lentowski 8 points for the quarter and 20 for the game at that point, giving Holy Cross a 58-27 lead.
Kranson got Holy Cross started with nine points in the first quarter when they were taking a 15-8 lead.
Lentowski did much of her damage in the middle quarters. She also had eight points in the second quarter when the Lady Crusaders were building a 32-16 halftime lead.
Kranson scored 11 points, Lentowski 8 and Emily Ferguson 7 during a 26-point third quarter by Holy Cross.
Ferguson finished with 12 points. Julia Goetz had 6 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Kranson also had six assists.
Lakeland was led by Skylar Arendt with 10 points, including 8 in the first half.

Berwick 44, Wyoming Valley West 35
Katie Starr scored 15 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, made 6 steals, blocked 5 shots and achieved a career milestone for the second straight game as Berwick won on its home court in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1.
Starr grabbed her 1,000th career rebound with 2:05 left in the third quarter. She had scored her 1,000th point Tuesday against Crestwood.
Berwick won its sixth straight and moved to within a half-game of the division lead.
Renny Murphy added 11 points, 6 assists and 5 steals in the win.
Gabby Marsola had 13 points and Kalia Saunders 11 for Wyoming Valley West.
Starr scored 12 of her points in the second half as Berwick rallied after intermission for the second straight outing.
Dallas 67, Wilkes-Barre Area 32
Dallas won at home to complete a home-and-home sweep of Wilkes-Barre Area on consecutive nights in WVC Division 1.
Wilkes-Barre Area was the second-place team in the division and Dallas was below .500 before the Mountaineers swept the weekend series by a total of 52 points.
Julia Kocher scored 18 points, Bella Hill 16 and Victoria Spaciano 15. All three players had at least 15 points in each game, including Friday’s 60-43 road win.
Dallas dominated at home, opening leads of 20-10 after one quarter, 37-18 at halftime and 55-27 through three quarters.
Vanessa Luna led Wilkes-Barre Area with eight points.
Holy Redeemer 46, Hanover Area 10
Holy Redeemer also beat the same opponent for the second straight day, winning on the road to maintain its half-game WVC Division 2 lead.
Lake-Lehman 58, Wyoming Area 39
Lake-Lehman remained within a half-game of Holy Redeemer when Chase Purdy scored 18 points and Claire Dougherty added 16.
Purdy scored 10 points in the second quarter when Lake-Lehman turned a 9-8 deficit into a 26-15 halftime lead.
Dougherty scored 12 points in the second half.
Morgan Janeski led Wyoming Area with 13 points.
Tunkhannock 44, Wyoming Seminary 39
Sable Stephens had 11 points to lead a balanced Tunkhannock attack in the WVC Division 2 road win.
Maci Iddings scored all six of her points and Stephens added five to get the Lady Tigers out to a 14-7 lead after one quarter.
Maddie Olshemski led Wyoming Seminary with 17 points.
North Pocono 69, Delaware Valley 33
Carena Colo scored 25 points, all in the first three quarters when North Pocono ran to its sixth straight victory in the Lackawanna Division 2 game.
Colo had at least eight points and one 3-pointer in each of those three quarters.
North Pocono took control in a 12-4 run over the final 3:10 of the first quarter for a 26-15 lead.
Jenna Beach added 16 points in the win while Alicia Goldenzeil had 11.
Brooke Acoveno led Delaware Valley with 10.
Elk Lake 54, Forest City 20
Elk Lake scored the game’s first 20 points to take a half-game lead over Montrose in Lackawanna Division 4 going into their Monday meeting of division unbeatens.
Northwest 40, Benton 16
Charleigh Miner scored 14 points to lead Northwest.
Miner made three 3-pointers.
Crestwood 39, Western Wayne 38
Brianna Wickiser scored off an offensive rebound with 19 seconds left to complete Crestwood’s comeback for a non-league, home victory.
The Lady Comets, who trailed by 11 at halftime and 12 after three quarters, scored the last five points of the game to close out an 18-5, fourth-quarter advantage.
Julia Glowacki hit two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. When her attempt in the final minute fell off the far side of the rim, Wickiser was there, positioned the easily score what proved to be the final points of the game.
Western Wayne had two shots in the lane, one hurried, in the closing seconds.
Helena Jardine led with Crestwood with 13 points.
Kaeli Romanowski had 19 points and Jacque Morris led for Western Wayne.
Valley View 51, Mid Valley 26
Skylar Bianchi scored 25 points and was also a big part of the Valley View defense that limited Mid Valley to 14 points through three quarters to post the non-league win on the road.
Jamie Cortazar led Mid Valley with eight points.
Hazleton Area 61, Mount Carmel 52
Olivia Wolk scored 16 points to lead four scorers in double figures when Hazleton Area traveled into District 4 for the non-league win.
Wolk also made four steals.
Julia Mrochko scored 13 points while Jaya Franek and Brooke Boretski added 12 each. Franek also had five assists while Boretski had four assists and four steals.
Hazleton Area withstood 29 points, 22 of them in the second half, from Mount Carmel’s Danni Rae Renno.
