ARCHBALD – Crestwood held Valley View without a field goal for 10 minutes coming down the stretch and got timely late scoring from Cadence Hiller and Isabella Caporuscio Tuesday night to pull out a 32-30, non-league girls victory at Valley View.
Hiller scored her second basket of the game with 1:48 left to put Crestwood ahead to stay, 29-28.
Caporuscio was scoreless until hitting a layup to match Crestwood’s biggest lead at three points.
Molly Murphy scored Valley View’s first basket since the 2:40 mark of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 31-30 in the final minute.
Caporuscio provided the game’s final point by hitting one of two free throws with 16.5 second left.
After Valley View had a shot at the winning basket, Crestwood rebounded but could not add to its lead at the foul line with 2.2 seconds remaining.
The game featured seven lead changes and four ties with neither team managing a bigger lead than Valley View’s 16-10 advantage late in the second quarter.
Crestwood, which was playing its season opener, was led by Julia Glowacki, who scored eight points with the help of two 3-pointers.
Kate Gallagher and Grace Pasternick added seven points each.
Isabella Rebar was 4-for-4 from the line in the fourth quarter to finish with nine points for Valley View (1-1).

Western Wayne 77, North Schuylkill 76
Leah Fedorchak’s basket with four seconds left in the second overtime lifted Western Wayne to the victory.
Kaeli Romanowski led the way with 30 points while Katherine Shepherd added 20 and Brooke Kellogg had 10.
The Lady ‘Cats worked their way all the way back from falling behind, 25-8, after one quarter. They closed within 33-21 at halftime and continued the comeback from there.
Maddy Wetzel scored a game-high 31 points for North Schuylkill.
Riverside 54, Wyoming Area 43
Kylie Lavelle scored 18 of her 30 points in the second half for Riverside, which broke open a two-point game by scoring the first 12 points of the third quarter for a 37-23 lead.
The strong start to the second half was part of a nine-minute stretch of the second and third quarters in which Riverside limited Wyoming Area to four points.
Lavelle also grabbed 11 rebounds.
Kate Slaboda added 11 points and 9 rebounds while Morgan Antoniacci had six assists.
Morgan Janeski led Wyoming Area with 17 points and 9 rebounds.
Abington Heights 44, Montrose 31
Allison Dammer led Abington Heights with 17 points.
Anna Scoblick scored all 10 of her points in the first half while helping the Lady Comets to a 27-20 lead at the break.
Dammer had nine points in the second half.
Hayley Pompey led Montrose with 13 points.
Berwick 48, Towanda 29
Rae Ann Andreas scored 20 points to lead Berwick to the victory.
Gabby Starr added 12 points.
