GIRLS ROUNDUP: Lady Hornets post road win

Elyse Montgomery led a fast start by Honesdale and finished with 18 points as the visiting Lady Hornets completed a home-and-home sweep by winning at North Pocono, 45-29, in a Monday night Lackawanna League Division 2 girls game.

Honesdale had defeated North Pocono at home three days earlier.

Montgomery had a 3-pointer while scoring six points in the first quarter when Honesdale took a 16-6 lead. She hit two more from beyond the arc while adding eight points in the second quarter as the Lady Hornets stretched their lead to 34-14 at halftime.

Chloe Lyle added 11 points for Honesdale, which built its lead to 44-25 through 3 quarters.

Autumn Koch, who hit two 3-pointers, and Abigail Lenchinsky had six points each for North Pocono.

In Monday’s other girls games:

Pittston Area 59, Tunkhannock 46

Kallie Booth and Daniella Ranieli did not miss a free throw while combining for 19 of their 43 points as Pittston Area was pulling away in the fourth quarter of the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 home-court victory.

Booth went 6-for-6 while scoring 12 of her 24 points as the Lady Patriots broke open a 36-32 game. Ranieli made 5 free throws and had 7 of her 19 points in the quarter.

Sable Stephens led Tunkhannock with 10 points, including 8 in the first quarter to keep the Lady Tigers within 11-10.

Lexi Corby scored all nine of her points in the third quarter when Tunkhannock outscored Pittston Area, 12-8, to close within four.

Crestwood 49, Berwick 45

Grace Pasternick and Camryn Collins each hit two fourth-quarter 3-pointers to lead Crestwood’s come-from-behind WVC Division 1 victory over visiting Berwick.

Pasternick had eight points, Collins six and Cadence Hiller five in the fourth quarter.

Berwick took a 39-27 lead into the fourth before Crestwood outscored the Lady Bulldogs, 22-6.

Hiller also had a 3-pointer, then made a spin move in the lane to give the Lady Comets their first lead, 47-45, with 2:25 left.

Pasternick finished with 14 points while Collins had 12. Hiller and Julia Glowacki had nine points each.

Glowacki hit two 3-pointers while scoring eight in the first quarter to keep Crestwood within 11-10.

Gabby Starr had a nine-point second quarter with two 3-pointers and a three-point play, then Carly Ochs had nine points in the third quarter on three 3-pointers as Berwick seemed to be taking control.

Starr had 14 points, all in the first half.

Sarina DeFinnis scored 12 points and Ochs finished with 11.

Wyoming Seminary 45, Hanover Area 30

Cassidy Skoransky scored 14 points and Lexy Lichtenstein added 13 to lead Wyoming Seminary to the WVC Division 2 road victory.

The win was the third straight by the Blue Knights following an 0-12 start.

Kyleen McCance led Hanover Area with 18 points.

Nanticoke 38, Wyoming Area 35

Riley Baird helped Nanticoke take control late in the first half, then the Trojanettes held off the Lady Warriors late to post the WVC Division 2 victory.

Baird had 9 of her 16 points during a 12-0 run from midway through the second quarter until 14 seconds left in the half for a 21-15 lead.

Claire Aufiero hit three 3-pointers while adding 10 points.

Wyoming Area outscored Nanticoke, 11-2, in the last seven minutes but its comeback fell short.

Anna Wisnewski led the Lady Warriors with 13 points while Jocelyn Williams had 11 points and 9 rebounds.

Lackawanna Trail 54, Mountain View 37

Lackawanna Trail won its second straight Lackawanna Division 4 road game.
