Western Wayne led at halftime Wednesday night before eventually falling short against Jim Thorpe, the top Class 4A team from District 11, 45-41, in a non-league girls game.
Kaeli Romanowski scored 22 points for Western Wayne, which slipped to 13-4, but continued to lead the race for the top seed in the District 2 Class 3A playoffs.
Jim Thorpe, which has lost only to Dunmore, improved to 17-1, including 3-1 against District 2 teams, all of which are in first or second place in their divisions.

Lake-Lehman 53, Tunkhannock 38
First-place Lake-Lehman shut out Tunkhannock in the second quarter, scoring 18 points to take a 32-9 halftime lead in the non-league game.
The win was the sixth straight for the Lady Knights, who improved to 13-3 overall.
Ella Wilson (14), Haley Kline (12) and Brenna Hunt (11) all scored in double figures for Lake-Lehman.
Maci Iddings and Brianna Hubert scored eight points apiece for Tunkhannock.
Lakeland 61, Old Forge 33
Lakeland used its highest-scoring effort of the season to win at home in the Lackawanna League Division 3 game.
Angelica Nowak led the way, hitting seven 3-pointers while scoring 23 points.
Nowak has 48 3-pointers on the season.
Pocono Mountain West 57, Wallenpaupack 42
Pocono Mountain West downed visiting Wallenpaupack in the non-league game.
The Lady Buckhorns fell for the fifth time in six games after starting 8-3.
East Stroudsburg Notre Dame 35, MMI Prep 17
MMI Prep played its closest road game of the season, but remained winless with the non-league loss.
