Evan Maxwell spent most of his second professional season starting for the Newcastle Eagles of the British Basketball League.
Asked to play a different role in the postseason, Maxwell still produced.
The Abington Heights graduate came off the bench to score 14 points, grab 6 rebounds, dish out 2 assists and block 2 shots May 16 when Newcastle defeated the London Lions, 68-66, to capture the BBL championship.
Maxwell started for the Eagles throughout the regular season, posting six double-doubles in the 30-game regular season. He shot 48.9 percent from the floor while averaging 11.2 points and 6.8 rebounds.
In the five-game playoffs, Maxwell averaged 10.2 points and 4.2 rebounds. He played 28 of the 40 minutes in the championship game.
Maxwell followed up a career as an All-American and national champion at Indiana Wesleyan University by heading to the Slovakia Extraliga to play the 2019-20 season for Spisska Nova Ves.
The 6-foot-10 forward/center averaging 15.6 points and 7.5 rebounds in 27 games as a rookie before the season was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic. He headed to Great Britain for his second pro season.
