Notes

  • Delaware Valley had the third-best, all-season record in Division 1 in 2011-12, but made the all-season championship game by winning the second-half title with a 6-1 record. The Warriors then fell to Scranton, 64-44, in the 2012, all-season championship game.
  • The Warriors won the 2013 Division 2 title in a playoff with Wallenpaupack, 48-26, after the two teams tied for first in the standings. At the time, the Lackawanna League also had a Big School championship, which the Warriors lost to Division 1 champion Abington Heights, 45-35.
  • Delaware Valley emerged from a three-way tie for first place in 2016 as Division 2 champ. The Warriors had a bye into the title game where they defeated North Pocono, 43-41.
  • While playing in the largest classification throughout the decade, Delaware Valley has been in subregional tournaments because Williamsport from District 4 has participated in the same tournament as the District 2 schools each year.
  • The Warriors have lost seven straight subregional playoff games.
  • Delaware Valley was regarded as the 2012 District 2 Class 4A champion after finishing second in the District 2-4 Subregional behind District 4 member Williamsport.
  • The Warriors are 8-9 all-time in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state tournament. All but the 2012 appearance came as a member of the old District 12 before it merged into District 2.
  • Delaware Valley has made a total of four appearances in the state quarterfinals, making the two most recent runs with a pair of state wins each in 1986 and 1996 under coach Al Holtzer, father of current coach, Kris Holtzer. Both were in the 32-team format currently in use.
  • The 1957 and 1971 teams reached the quarterfinals of 12-team tournaments, with a single win and a first-round bye respectively.
  • The Warriors were in Class 2A (out of four) in 1986 when they defeated Dunmore, 57-50, and Lourdes Regional, 54-52 in overtime, before falling to Panther Valley, 52-40, in the quarterfinals.
  • Delaware Valley matched its deepest trip into the state tournament in 1996 when the Warriors defeated Danville, 75-52, and Palmyra, 71-65, before losing to Valley View, 51-41, in the Class 3A quarterfinals.
  • The Warriors won their state tournament debut in 1957, beating Montgomery, 78-76, in Class C, the smallest of the state’s three classes at the time, long before the school district began a large enrollment growth.
  • Delaware Valley won its first state tournament game in 29 years with the 1986 victory over Dunmore.
  • In their District 12 days, the Warriors sometimes played District 2 teams in the early rounds. The win over Dunmore was the only one in four tries in the opening round. They lost to Forest City, 62-59, in Class C in 1971; to Dallas, 69-32, in Class 2A in 1992; and to Meyers, 65-50, in Class 3A in 1994.
